Speed Cracking WPA & WPA2 With CowPatty and Genpmk on Kali Linux
As part of our series on Wireless Penetration Testing with Kali Linux, we want to demonstrate another excellent tool for cracking WPA/WPA2-PSK passwords. In this tutorial we will use a tool developed by wireless security researcher Josha Wright called coWPAtty and his combination with Genpmk for a pre-computed hash file.
CoWPAtty – Kali Linux Tools
Cowpatty simplifies and speeds up the dictionary/hybrid attack against WPA2 passwords. Implementation of an offline dictionary attack against WPA/WPA2 networks using PSK-based authentication (WPA-Personal).

Many enterprise networks deploy PSK-based authentication mechanisms for WPA/WPA2 since it is much easier than establishing the necessary RADIUS, supplicant and certificate authority architecture needed for WPA-Enterprise authentication. Cowpatty can implement an accelerated attack if a precomputed PMK file is available for the SSID that is being assessed.

The following video will show a demonstration of cracking WPA/WPA2 using Cowpatty and Genpmk on Kali Linux :
